Becoming a Champion
To become a business champion or to provide a case study to support the programme a firm must have:
- A ‘top down’ commitment to managing work related road safety;
- A positive attitude towards safety, reflected in the behaviour of all its employees (including directors, line managers, contractors and sub-contractors), as part of its ‘safety culture’;
- Formal policies and practices in line with the HSE / DfT ‘Driving for Work’ guidance, including internal reporting and measurement mechanisms;
- An honest account of its safety record prior to implementing a risk management system;
- A willingness to present at events and seminars;
- The time and inclination to network with key industry figures;
- A willingness to talk to the media.
RoadSafe will support the Business Champions by:
- Identifying opportunities to deliver their message to their business peers.
- Assisting them to develop their message.
- Providing the administrative support they need to deliver their message.
- Improving their work related road safety ethos by improving their network of contacts and access to expert advice.
Please step forward and help us to deliver this programme, as a Champion or as part of our wider network. Contact Ed James ejames@roadsafe.com to learn more. RoadSafe will discuss your involvement in this programme with you in detail before you need to make any decisions.
