Order campaign materials
Campaign materials can be ordered via the catalogue page on the THNIK! website at www.dft.gov.uk/think. If you would like to order large quantities of any of these campaign materials please email DFTpublicity@dft.gsi.gov.uk
The THINK! website also includes an advice section which gives information on legislation and help to drivers. THINK! TV adverts can be downloaded from the website and we are happy for employers to use these as part of employee training.
Research conducted in November 2007 on behalf of THINK! identified that many people who drive for work demonstrate particular risky behaviours on the road, most notably speeding, driving whilst using a mobile phone and driving when tired.
Speeding
Work drivers can feel under pressure to get from job to job, or to keep to unrealistic schedules. THINK! have produced posters which show the graphic impact of not obeying the speed limit in both urban and rural areas.
Mobile phones
Employees often feel under pressure to take calls from the office and respond to queries from customers and clients. However, all phone calls can be distracting, and the use of a hand held mobile phone or similar device is illegal. If the police see poor driving and find a driver distracted by a conversation on a hands-free phone, they prosecute for not having proper control of the vehicle. The THINK! mobile phone campaign includes posters called 'Kill the conversation' which are based on the TV advert.
Driving whilst tired
Driver sleepiness accounts for up to one fifth of accidents on major roads, yet many people do not see this as a serious problem. An information leaflet is available which aims to help drivers recognise the signs of approaching sleepiness. There are also campaign posters to order.
