Driving for Better Business, in conjunction with our partners at Stop the Crash, and supported by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, will be running a series of events to demonstrate the latest collision avoidance technology to fleet decision makers.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology is proven to reduce collisions and costs, yet take up of these systems in the UK is poor. One barrier is a lack of customer knowledge about the benefits ADAS can bring to a fleet, and an understanding of how the different systems work.

Autonomous Emergency Braking, for example, has been proven to reduce ‘at fault’ rear collisions by 38%.

These events give you probably the only opportunity to experience the latest systems yourself, driving in a controlled environment, and in the care of highly trained instructors and engineers. Dealers are normally not permitted to demonstrate these technologies so this could well be the only opportunity you have to see how these new technologies and systems work, and experience how they interact with the driver and the car’s other control systems.

There will also be some key presentations on how the systems work to reduce collisions and vehicles damage in fleets, the business case for ADAS, as well as an analysis of the impact on repair costs.

There are four events are taking place at the Thatcham Research Proving Ground in Upper Heyford. Places are strictly limited to 20 delegates per day to ensure all delegates get adequate time in the vehicles, and they are already going fast.
